Why Do LED Lights Flicker?

Mar, 22, 2022

1. LEDs of the light are not matched with LED driver. The current and voltage that a normal 1W LED can bear is 80-300mA and 3.0-3.4V respectively. LED chip with insufficient power would cause flicker of light source, as the current is too strong to be borne by the LEDs. Even worse, the built-in gold wire and copper wire in LEDs would be blown, which would cause the light to be off;

2. Maybe the driver is broken, just replace it with another normal driver;

3. If the driver has over-temperature protection, and the heat dissipation performance of the luminaire cannot meet the requirements, the over-temperature protection of driver will start to work, which will also cause the flicker. For example, the 20W floodlight cover is used to assemble 30W lamp, the lamp would flicker if the heat dissipation is not done well;

4. In terms of the outdoor luminaire, if there is water inside the luminaire, the luminaire will also flicker and then be off. The flicker may result from the broken light source, so replace it can solve the problem.
